Deco Wednesday : How to style your bed and sleep happy – Pillows

I am really convinced that making your bed in the morning has a positive impact on your state of mind and gives you a good start for the day. There are even studies on this topic. Would you have thought for example that 71 percent of bed makers consider themselves happy; while 62 percent of non-bed-makers admit to being unhappy? (source)

Not to mention that great feeling when you head to bed after a long day and cuddle into a perfectly made bed, that makes you feel like you’re in a fancy hotel. Let’s just face it, an unmade bed is simply not so inviting.

So start making your bed every morning! Of course in order to stick to this habit and keep your mental sanity, you gotta find a system that works for you, and that works fast! 🙂 You can’t afford to waste more than 5 minutes for this job in the morning.

So the first golden rule would be to limit the number of pillows.

1. Don’t go for too many of them, because it would be a hassle for you arranging them every morning, and the end result won’t be very stylish.

2. On the other hand, too few pillows won’t really pull the look either. It may end up looking plain and boring.

3. Instead, go for what the interior designers go:

And that means that you can achieve a balanced and stylish look with somewhere between 5 and 7 pillows only, make it 9 if you really can’t resist adding a few smaller ones with some interesting prints. 🙂

To give you a starting point, here are my top three bed pillow arrangements:
